You're very welcome here

Visiting a church for the first time can feel like a big step. At Leyland Methodist Church you'll find friendly people, a relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome.

Here's everything you need to know to help you feel confident about joining us.

What to expect on your first Sunday

When?

We meet every Sunday at 10:30am.

When you arrive

Come in through the main doors where you'll be greeted by a friendly face.

The service

Our service includes music, prayers, Bible readings and a talk. It lasts about an hour.

After the service

We enjoy time to chat over tea and coffee together, and you're very welcome to stay.

What to wear?

Come as you are. There's no dress code!

Do I have to join in?

Not at all. You're very welcome to just sit, listen and see how it feels.

Coming with Children?

Children and families are very welcome at our Sunday services.

Worship together

We begin worship all together for around 15 minutes, usually with a welcome, prayer and one or two songs or hymns.

Family Corner

During this time, children are welcome to use our Family Corner, where there are books, colouring, toys and fidgets. Colouring clipboards are also available for children who would prefer to stay in their seat. We ask that children using the Family Corner are supervised and that it is left tidy for others to enjoy.

Club Sunday

During term time, children and young people aged 2-16 are blessed before heading to Club Sunday in the Coffee Bar, where they explore a Bible story or theme through games, activities and creativity. At the end of the service, families come down to the Coffee Bar for refreshments and rejoin their children there.

Prefer to stay together?

Children are also very welcome to remain with their family throughout the service if they prefer.

FAQs

Do I need to be a Methodist, or even a Christian?

Not at all. Everyone is welcome at Leyland Methodist Church, whatever your background or beliefs. We're putting together a fuller answer to this with our minister and leadership team, so please check back soon, or get in touch if you would like to talk it through sooner.

Can I take Communion?

We're finalising our full guidance on this with our minister and leadership team. In the meantime, please get in touch and we'll be happy to talk you through it before you visit.

Will I be expected to give money?

No. There is an offering during the service for those who consider LMC their church home, but visitors should never feel any obligation to give.

What if I want to get to know people?

Stay for tea, coffee and a chat after the service, that's when most people get talking. You're also welcome to speak to any of our welcome team on the day, or get in touch beforehand and we'll help you find your feet.

What does Leyland Methodist Church believe?

We're putting together a fuller answer to this with our minister and leadership team, so please check back soon. If you would like to talk it through sooner, please get in touch.
